  • I'm a Fan of the Wii

Yes, I'm a fan of the Nintendo Wii.

At first I was not sure if I liked it or not because it seemed a little gimmacky. To be sure, the Wii is different than other video game systems.  But the more I play it the more I like it.  The controls offer a different dimension to video gaming, yes literally. Plus, some of the games give you the option of using the remote more like a classic control if you prefer.

I like the fact that the gamer is much more active while playing the game. My son works up a sweat while playing some of the Wii Sports games like Boxing and Tennis.  I recently got Madden '06 for it and I love the way the controls interact with it.

Some of the remote interactions for Madden '06 are: to snap the ball you pull the remote towards you; to throw the ball you flick it forward; to stiff arm you stick the remote out towards the defender; you can swip at the ball to knock it down; and, you kick the ball by flipping the remote up in a kicking motion. Also, the Wii has some mini games that are unique to this system.  The mini games are helpful in learning how to play the game with the remotes.

I also like the potential online gaming capabilities but at this time there are are not any Wii games on the market that offer online gaming.  However, you can order legacy games from Nintendo and other systems. The games download to your Wii and you can delete them are readd them later because your account keeps track of what you have purchased in the past. Special controls for the virtual console games are required for playing the legacy games. Speaking of Legacy games you can play the Nintendo Gamecube games through the Wii using the actual legacy controls.

So my advice to you if your not sure is to find a friend who has one and try it. But, don't just play one game. Play a couple and get an overall feel for the unique gaming style. Play it. Experience it. Wii rocks!
