Last night my CA Security Suite did its automatic renewal of my annual license. I still think $50 for 3 licenses is very good value for continuous a/v, but now there is another very interesting feature: CA Web Inspector, a.k.a. CallingID
It's a toolbar that installs into Firefox and IE, and warns you about every link you are about to click and web site you visit. It checks to make sure that you (or your wife & kids) aren't about to visit a phishing site for example.
And I have to say, it's working very well on its first day.
It does, however, say that most of my sites are low risk or *gulp* bright red HIGH risk. This one in fact, www.BritishInside.com is a very bad web site. Apparently I hide my identity whatever that means.
I've sent in a support request, and we'll see where that goes.
It is impressive though - check this out. When I visited the site to write this blog post I was shown a bright red popup window asking me to confirm I really wanted to go here. AND when I went to login I got another box saying "You are about to enter a password to a HIGH RISK site, are you sure?".
I'll be resting happier after I install the update onto the kids machines tonight...
