  • New Site

Things have been a little quite around here, but that is for some pretty big reasons:

    1. On July 2nd, my daughter, Emily was born.
    2. I have been heads down working on Telligent's next product, GraffitiCMS.

One of the things that I have learned about myself is that when I am really involved in writing code, I do not blog very often. I am not sure if it because I lose track of time or if maybe writing code just uses up all of my creative juices for the day. However, if you look back through the history of posts on this site, you can definitely see when I was in full on development mode.

In addition, with the birth of Emily, there was very little time to write (or even sleep :).

But not all is lost. Emily now sleeps (occasionally) and Graffiti V1 is just about out the door. So now it is time to get back on the blog saddle. Although it is Google Rank suicide, I have decided to do something a bit different. I am going to (at least temporarily) close this blog down and start fresh on Simpable.com. I have learned quite a bit from blogging over the last 5 years and I think I have a better feel what I want to get out of blogging (and life). You do not get many chances in life to start over, so I am going to take this opportunity head on.

I know this is my site and I can do whatever I want to, but there is something refreshing about starting from the beginning. No Technorati authority, no Google Rank, etc. I am still going to keep this site alive, I just won't be writing to it very often. I will also eventually redirect the RSS feed to the new Simpable feed, but I have not decided that 100% yet.

Actually, I have been writing on Simpable.com for a little while now, so there are a bunch of posts already to go. Here are a couple of them:

    Finally, just a preemptive Q&A:

    • Yes, I am using Graffiti to power my new site.
    • Yes, I could have easily imported my previous posts.
    • No, I am not going to migrate posts from here to Simpable.

Thanks again for all of your support and feedback on this blog.
